This Contest shall be conducted by Leon’s Furniture Limited (“Leon’s” or “We”) for customers to enter at any Leon’s location in Quebec, (the “Stores”) (a customer is referred to as “You” or “Your”). The contest runs from June 3rd, 2023 at 9:00 am EST to June 30, 2023 to 9:00 pm EST (“Contest Period”).

If You finalize a sale of product purchased at a participating Leon’s* (in-store or online) during the Contest Period, using any payment method, an entry will be automatically entered for the Prizes.

No purchase necessary method of entry:
Submit a short, original 100-word handwritten essay explaining why You want to win the prize mentioned in these rules. Enter Your first and last name, full address (including postal code), telephone number (including area code), email address, and monthly rent/mortgage amount. Sign the essay and mail it with sufficient postage to: Leon’s WE PAY YOUR RENT FOR A YEAR Contest - 45 Gordon MAckay Rd Toronto Ontario M9N3X3. Entries must be postmarked no later than June 30, 2023, failing which the entry will be void. The content of each entry submitted must be unique; photocopies are not accepted.

Limit of one (1) entry per family. For this purpose, “family” means all persons, whether related or not, living in the same household.

The use of any device to automate the entry process is prohibited.
Any attempt to manipulate the Contest will result in You being disqualified.
“Draw Date” will be July 17, 2023.

*Participating Leon's locations are: Anjou, Beauport, Dorval, Drummondville, Laval, Longueuil, Matane, Sainte-Foy, Saint-Georges and Sherbrooke.

ONE YEAR OF RENT OR MORTGAGE (*to a maximum of $24,000 per year) paid to the winner in full by cheque after verification of monthly residential rent or mortgage confirmed. For further clarity, if You pay $1,500 per month in rent or mortgage payments, You will be compensated $1,500 per month ($18,000 total).

The contest is open to all residents of Quebec who have reached the age of majority on or before Draw Date except employees, representatives, agents and affiliates of Leon's Furniture Limited, and all people employed as contractors or sub-contractors by Leon’s Furniture limited, and their immediate family members living in the same household.

Odds of winning depend on the cumulative number of Entry Forms received; odds decrease as the number of Entry Forms increase.

On July 17, 2023, a representative from Leon’s corporate office in Toronto, Ontario will draw and record three (3) Entries from the combined automatic entries and mailed in entries to obtain one (1) winner (“Eligible Winner”). Two (2) additional Entries will be drawn as back-up Entry Forms in the event the initial Eligible Winner is non-responsive after contact, fails to comply with the contest rules, or is unable to complete the skill testing question, and those names will be recorded in the order they were drawn (the “Alternate Winner(s)”).
A representative from the corporate office will use his/her reasonable efforts to contact the Eligible Winner by phone or e-mail after the Draw Date. If the Eligible Winner cannot be reached by telephone, or has not contacted Leon’s within three (3) days of Leon’s leaving messages to do so (“Contact Date”), then that person will be disqualified and Leon’s shall proceed to contact the next Alternate Winner.

An Eligible Winner whose name has been selected on the Draw Date must:

• 1. If renting:
  

  • a) Be a resident of the province of Quebec
  • b) Be over the age of majority in the province of Quebec;
  • c) Be able to prove they are currently renting a residence from an arm’s length landlord, to be confirmed to the satisfaction of Leon’s in its sole discretion;
  • d) Provide proof of rental agreement and rental amount;

• 2. If possessing a mortgage:
  

  • a) Be a resident of the province of Quebec
  • b) Be over the age of majority in the province of Quebec;
  • c) Have a mortgage with a:
    i. Schedule 1 bank;
    ii. CMHC Mortgage; or
    iii. An arm’s length mortgage under terms, rates and conditions comparable to (a) or (b) above to the satisfaction of Leon’s in its sole discretion.
  • d) Leon’s reserves the right to evaluate and quantify the mortgage based on reasonable terms and rates subject to above.

• 3. Within three (3) business days following the Contact Date, correctly answer a time-limited, arithmetical skill-testing question without the assistance of any person or mechanical/recording device(s). The skill-testing process shall be administered at a pre-arranged time and place;

• 4. Execute a declaration and release form confirming compliance with the Official Contest Rules and acceptance of the Prize; and

• 5. Should the Eligible Winner fail to answer the skill-testing question correctly or is unable to attend at the time and place designated by Leon’s for the administration of same, that Eligible Winner shall be disqualified and the skill-testing question shall be administered to the next Alternate Winner.

By accepting the Grand Prize the winner agrees to Leon’s use of their names, city, province of residence and/or photograph for advertising and publicity purposes without compensation.

By participating, You agree that: a) these Official Contest Rules, the decisions and Leon’s records of the draw or any other aspect of this contest shall be final and conclusive in all respects; and b) release, discharge, indemnify and hold harmless Leon’s, its affiliated and related enterprises and their trustees, directors, officers, assigns, and their employees, representatives, advertising and other agents from any liability, claims, damages, demands, actions, or causes of action whatsoever which they, their heirs, successors, assigns, executors, or administrators may now or hereafter have directly or indirectly against them or any of them in respect of or relating to the Contest and/or the acceptance or use, misuse, or possession of any prize.

Leon’s shall not be responsible for print or typographical errors in any Contest-related materials; for transactions that are posted late or incorrectly or are lost due to computer or electronic malfunction. Leon’s reserves the right to amend or vary the Official Contest Rules, including the imposition or addition of new rules which are deemed by Leon’s in its sole discretion necessary for business efficacy.

Leon’s will use the contact information provided in contest entries for administration of this Contest and/or to ascertain Your needs and market to You. We may communicate with You for any of these purposes by telephone, fax, text messaging, or other electronic means, and automatic dialing-announcing device, at the numbers You have provided us, or by internet, mail, email and other methods. By entering this Contest, You acknowledge and agree to give permission to Leon’s to collect, use and disclose Your personal information in accordance with Leon’s privacy policy (“Privacy Policy”). Leon’s is committed to protecting the privacy of the personal information You have provided herein. Any decision by the contest organizer or its representatives relating to the contest is final and without appeal, subject to any ruling by Régie des alcools, des courses et des jeux du Québec on any issue under its jurisdiction.

Subject to the approval of Régie des alcools, des courses et des jeux du Québec, the organizer reserves the right, if required and at its sole discretion, to cancel, terminate, modify, or suspend the contest, in whole or in part, should an event or human intervention corrupt or affect the administration, security, impartiality, or normal operation of the contest.

Any dispute regarding the organization or management of an advertising contest may be submitted to Régie des alcools, des courses et des jeux for a ruling. Disputes regarding the awarding of a prize may be submitted to Régie des alcools, des courses et des jeux du Québec for the sole purpose of attempting to reach a settlement.
